Once you’ve done nicely with your walks, look at adding some other physical activity to your regimen. Adding a little at a time will make it easier on your body, but also helps to eliminate boredom.


Before beginning your workout routine for the day, always warm up your muscles first. Without stretching, you are increasing your risk for sprained or strained muscles. The muscles that you will be using must be ready for the work out they will receive.

If they aren’t warmed up and you have strained muscles, you will set yourself back many days of working out and you’ll find yourself having to start back at the beginning. It’s also essential to perform a number of cool down stretching exercises as soon as you have concluded your workout for the day. This helps you loosen up the muscles after a good exercise session so they’ll perform adequately for your other activities and not be as sore.

When you add a number of different kinds of exercises to your routine, you'll be able to change the days you perform them or combine them in different orders in order to prevent boredom. If you walk and ride a stationary bike every single day, you will soon become bored with it and then end up skipping days until eventually you are not working out.


Think about working out with a family member or friend. It’s often helpful to have somebody to talk with to pass the time while you exercise and it gives you a person to keep you focussed and also on track. Doing exercises with a buddy can help tie you to the pledge you made to yourself that you'd never toss in the towel.
